Retirements & Remembrances

Worth Loomis, president of Dexter Corporation, and Nan Glass, a member of the West Hartford Town Council, were two of the five people who comprised the original Steering Committee of Leadership Greater Hartford in 1977. We pay tribute to both of these recently deceased leaders, one a business leader who moved to Hartford in 1970 and the other a native-born journalist who became West Hartford mayor in 1995. They came from different faith and cultural traditions, but Worth and Nan shared a common commitment to building a capital region where, in Worth’s words, “the barriers of race, economics, education and age would be lowered in ways that would lead all to believe that we live in a just and fair community.”Our country is once again experiencing effects the debilitating of violence, injustice and racial hatred. Worth and Nan’s respect for all people and their belief in inclusive, collaborative approaches to solving our problems have become bedrock principles for Leadership Greater Hartford from our inception. Now, more than ever, we recommit ourselves to these principles – and invite you to do the same.
Leadership Greater Hartford remembers Steven K. Palmer (Quest 1987) who passed away this month. Let us keep his family and many friends in our thoughts and prayers.
