Leaders On Board

We work with over 100 regional nonprofits. Their work takes tremendous dedication and effort — that’s where Leaders On Board makes a difference.

Leaders On Board helps nonprofits find new Board members (professionals/late-career & retirees) who bring their diverse perspectives, skills, and experiences to the important work of their organizations.

Learn about joining a nonprofit board from the comfort of your own home. All sessions will now be hosted via Zoom.

Leaders On Board’s Process

  1. APPLY: Individual candidates and nonprofits can apply using the buttons in the green block to the right.
  2. ORIENTATION: Attend a program where you learn about board governance and nonprofit organizational structure to prepare you as a candidate for board membership.
  3. EXPRESS MATCH: We hold Express Match events every month for approved participants. These events are akin to speed dating in that candidates can spend a few minutes chatting with each participating nonprofit to see if you both are a good match!
  4. LEAD: We then gather information on who the best matches seem to be, and the rest is history!

A Special Thanks:

  • "I was able to meet six organizations [that night] and learn about their needs and missions....The nonprofits were so passionate about their mission that I was drawn to all of them....Choosing my top choice was a challenge."

  • "By introducing me to Girls on the Run, LGH has given me an environment where I work with talented people that I may not have interacted with otherwise. This also gave me the opportunity to further develop important skills that I learned from the Leaders on Board program and make a difference in the lives of girls in our community. As I learned more about Girls on the Run, I was inspired to participate in one of its fundraisers-SoleMates."
