Like many of you, our team watched the events unfold at our nation’s capital yesterday afternoon. Our work paused as we witnessed acts of insurrection and domestic terrorism— scenes that filled the airways for hours, and held to an apparent double standard. As the analysis and reflections begin, our emotions range from shock, frustration, fear, and sadness. However, with shock and frustration comes energy and commitment.
At Leadership Greater Hartford, we are driven by our mission to develop, connect and inspire diverse leaders to build strong and vibrant communities. Moments like these ignite renewed energy to build and nurture a strong civic fabric of community. We believe in the transformative power of leadership. We believe in this simply because for nearly half a century serving Greater Hartford, we have observed the positive impact of our alumni, program participants, clients, investors, and members. We have had the privilege of knowing, connecting, and developing thousands of leaders who inspire hope, lead change, and work toward building a more just and caring community.
And so today we encourage each of you, as members of our extended LGH “family,” to draw on your understanding of community and your ability to work together as ambassadors of good to our community, to our world, and to each other. We have important work to do: modeling compassion, altruism, and inclusive leadership. Our community, our country, and the world demand no less of us.
