Destiny Davis promoted to Director of Youth Programs

Destiny was born and raised in the Greater Hartford area. She was introduced to Leadership Greater Hartford (LGH) by a college mentor who recommended her for our collegiate leadership program, Leading Off Campus (LOC). After graduating from the 2016 LOC class, Destiny remained connected with LGH and was subsequently asked to join the organization part time as an intern for the youth program, Common Ground. Shortly after, she was invited to become a part of the LGH family as a Program Assistant & Grant Manager.

Destiny earned her master’s degree in social work from the University of Southern California where she focused on children, youth and families. Before that, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in human services with a minor in psychology from Goodwin University in East Hartford, CT.
As Director of Youth Programs, Destiny will plan an execute all youth programming, including our longest running program for high school students, Common Ground.

 

Karishma Pinto promoted to Marketing & Communications Coordinator and Race Equity Lead

Karishma joined Leadership Greater Hartford as the Marketing & Communications Coordinator in September of 2019. She previously served as the Creative Services Coordinator and Game Day Production Assistant for the Hartford Yard Goats. A proud alumna of the University of Hartford, Karishma earned a bachelor’s degree in communication with an emphasis in advertising and public relations with a double minor in marketing and graphic design. She also holds a master’s degree from UHart in communication with a focus in organizational communication and management.

A Pennsylvania native and current Hartford resident, Karishma is passionate about social justice and serving her community. She is a volunteer reader with Read to a Child and a Child Life volunteer at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. She is also a newly appointed member to the University of Hartford’s Alumni of Color Task Force . In 2019, she was a member of the Obama Foundation’s Community Leadership Corps in Hartford.

As the Race Equity Lead, Karishma will oversee LGH’s execution of recommendations set forth by the Race Equity Advisory Council (REAC). In addition, she will continue to serve as the staff liaison to REAC.

Karen now runs her own full-time consulting business and we wish her success and joy in her new endeavor. We look forward to continuing to partner together to effective positive change in the region.
