Race Equity Advisory Council
Leadership Greater Hartford’s Race Equity Advisory Council (REAC) is comprised of diverse, multiracial, multigenerational individuals, with multiple social identities and includes LGH alumni and non-alumni members. These members also represent corporate, nonprofit, and government sectors and include social workers, educators, and coaches.
This council serves as an external, objective source of ideas regarding adaptations to current and future leadership offerings as well as evaluation of internal policies to address systemic inequality. In addition to ideas provided by our staff and board, program participants and alumni, donors, and community members, LGH is committed to Black Lives Matter and demonstrating that commitment through action. Earlier this fall, the council shared its initial ten recommendations to the LGH Staff and Board of Directors, as shown in the attached visual below.

These are the first ten initiatives of what will be a continued, on-going effort. Updates regarding the on-going process and REAC will be shared consistently with the LGH community. So that all ten recommendations and future REAC recommendations are optimized and that all future programs are designed more effectively, the two recommendations of the committee (LGH Staff and Board of Directors training) will begin first. To that end, LGH is in the process of vetting organizations and trainers to carry out this crucial work.
LGH would like to thank the members of REAC for their time, expertise, and support thus far!
